Weekend in Waukesha Overview
PREMIERE MOTORCYCLE FESTIVAL IN HISTORIC DOWNTOWN WAUKESHA
August 28-31, 2008
Weekend in Waukesha is a four-day festival to be held in the Historic Downtown area August 28th through August 31st, in conjunction with the Harley-Davidson 105th Anniversary Celebration in Milwaukee.
Designed to attract both local residents and visiting motorcycle enthusiasts, the event will boast live music from nationally-known bands. Local and regional acts will also perform, providing a diverse range of styles–including country and Hispanic themed music.
Along with its strong musical line-up, Weekend in Waukesha will also feature food and beverages, a vendor mall, exhibits and other entertainment venues–motorcycle shows, a motorcycle exhibit at the museum, motorcycle-themed movies at the theater, etc., all in addition to the restaurants, bars, merchants and entertainment venues that are already an inherent part of downtown Waukesha.
There is no admission fee to attend Weekend in Waukesha, and many of the activities–including musical performances–are also free of charge. Regular admission fees will apply to some venues, such as a museum exhibit and the civic theater.
The Weekend in Waukesha festivities will officially begin Thursday at 5:00pm, and run until midnight that evening with live music performances at Cutler Park. Friday through Sunday’s hours will be from 10:00am until 2am throughout an 8 square block area of Historic Downtown Waukesha. Due to the large number of expected attendees (up to 50,000 per day), the streets of the Historic Downtown area will be limited to motorcycle traffic only during those times. The motorcycle will be the “show” creating a unique and exciting experience complementing the charm and character of the downtown. To accommodate all visitors, there will be plenty of parking bordering the event "downtown footprint" along with shuttle service to and from City and County Park & Rides and parking lots.
Weekend in Waukesha has been approved and is supported by the City of Waukesha and the Harley-Davidson Motor Company, and is being organized by Bethesda Events. It is sponsored by Hal's Harley-Davidson of New Berlin and Wisconsin Harley-Davidson of Oconomowoc.
